Massachusetts Animal CoalitionThe Massachusetts Animal Coalition (MAC) is a state-wide, non-profit organization comprised of animal professionals. MAC administers the Massachusetts 'I'm Animal Friendly' license plate, a specialty plate offered through the Commonwealth's RMV.
Proceeds from the license plate (almost $150,000 per year!) fund low-cost spay and neuter programs throughout the state. These funds are generated via a surcharge of $40 on the purchase of this plate. The first year that MA drivers get the plate $28 of the $40 goes to fund low cost or free spay/neuter programs across the Commonwealth. When the plate is renewed, the full $40 goes toward spay/neuter programs. To date, close to 13,000 animals have been spayed and neutered in MA as a direct result of this specialty license plate. You can read more about the coalition at www.massanimalcoalition.org.
